2009 Conference of Delegates

Name, Site and Contact Change

As we told you in our May 27, 2009 issue, we are in the process of changing our name. We have now migrated to our new site, www.calconference.org. For the time being, our old site will forward to the new. Please update your contact information for the CCBA (Conference of California Bar Associations) Executive Director to execdir@calconference.org. While our name is changing, our purpose remains the same and we will still be holding the annual Conference of Delegates.

Conference Registration

Both secure credit card and pay-by-check registration methods are now live and can be found at www.calconference.org/main.html. Make your selection for credit card or check registration. If you have any questions or need support at any time, please let us know.

Conference Schedule

The 75th Annual Conference of Delegates will convene at the San Diego Bayfront Hotel on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Shortly before 4:00 p.m. we will adjourn to an MCLE session, Terrorism, Torture and Ethics, which will run from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and is sponsored by Karpman & Associates. The Conference will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009. We will have a very short break (anticipated 15–20 minutes) for CCBA Officers and incoming Directors swearing-in and the annual State of the Conference address by our 2010 Chair, Lilys McCoy.

On Saturday, shortly before 3:30 p.m., we will adjourn for a 2 hour MCLE program, Bias In California After Proposition 8, sponsored by the San Diego County Bar Association. The Conference will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009 and will run until we conclude that day.

On Friday, September 11, 2009, starting at 8:30 p.m., we will celebrate our 75th Anniversary with a Wine, Cheese and Chocolate reception. More details on all these events can be found on our website at www.calconference.org/events.htm.

In addition to the Conference of Delegates, on Thursday, September 10, 2009, California Women Lawyer’s will hold its annual dinner at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton. Please go to www.cwl.org for dinner ticket purchase information.

In addition to registering for the Conference, be sure to reserve your room online at the San Diego Bayfront Hilton or by calling by calling the hotel (619-564-3333) and asking to reserve in the CCBA / Conference of California Bar Associations room block. As we mentioned in the last enews, if you have any problems with room reservations, please contact Laura Goldin at ExecDir@calconference.org.

Resolution Posting & Miscellaneous Housekeeping

Resolutions Committee recommendations have been posted at www.calconference.org/res_2009_rescom.html. We expect to be right on schedule with a July 15 posting of resolutions in their final forms at www.calconference.org/res_2009.html. We’ll be sending emails to Delegation Chairs and Staff with information about filing call-ups, spreadsheet positions, posting of proposed amendments and other matters related to Conference operations.

Please pay close attention to posted deadlines and other calendar information found here. We have a lot in store and are glad you are a part of it!
